Hi there!

I am a third-year PhD student in the Economics Department at SOAS, and this blog is about my PhD research on the palm oil industries in Papua New Guinea (PNG) and the Philippines. I conducted fieldwork in those two countries from February to July 2017. Previous research on both countries’ palm oil industries is scarce due to issues of access, security, and transport. However, due to various reasons, I was able to gain valuable access to major actors of the PNG and Filipino palm oil industries. I use this blog to share some of my fieldwork experiences and initial findings, and I hope you find them as interesting as I do!
