Which Country Tops the Happiest in the World?
Sustainable Development Solutions Network– a global initiative for the United Nations has launched the 3rd edition of the World Happiness report 2015. It has ranked Switzerland as the happiest nation, followed by Iceland, Denmark, Norway and Canada. Countries which were regarded as the least happiest included, Burundi, Rwanda and Syria.
Released on April 23, 2015, it looks at the changes in happiness levels in 158 countries, and examines the reasons behind the statistics. The WHR demonstrates that well-being and happiness are critical indicators of a nation’s economic and social development, and should be a key aim of policy.
The study takes into account variables such as real GDP per capita, healthy life expectancy, corruption levels and social freedoms.
A number of national and local governments are using happiness data and research in their search for policies that could enable people to live better lives.
