I am a third-year PhD student in the Economics Department at SOAS, and this blog is about my PhD research on the palm oil industries in Papua New Guinea (PNG) and the Philippines. I conducted fieldwork in those two countries from February to July 2017. Previous research on both countries’ palm oil industries is scarce due to issues of access, security, and transport.
