Mesopotamian mathematics & cuneiform tablets
Cuneiform writing was devised initially for the purpose of keeping accounts, and for the first few centuries, it was used almost entirely for book-keeping. ORACC (Open Richly Annotated Cuneiform Corpus) at the University of Pennsylvania has added transcriptions and translations of around 1000 cuneiform mathematical tablets to its database.
