A great profile of George W. Stocking, professor emeritus in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Chicago who died earlier this month.
Read it here via the New York Times.

SOAS Library hold 18 of his books, including studies of anthropology’s pioneers, most notably of Edward Burnett Tylor and Franz Boas. His 2010 book Glimpses into my own Black Box is on order.

You also have access to more than 100 of his articles, click here for a list. [Off-campus access available to SOAS staff and students only, using SOAS id and password.]
