The Royal Asiatic Society (14 Stephenson Way, near Euston Station) is launching two volumes on South Asia. Both books explore the social, political and cultural significance of indigenous forms of leadership (kings and gurus) in fresh and compelling ways.
The book launch will be held on
25 October 2012
17:30 – 19:30
Speakers: Dr Aya Ikegame (The Open University), Dr Jacob Copeman (University of Edinburgh), Professor Anthony Good (University of Edinburgh). Chair: Professor Engin Isin (The Open University).
The two book titles are:
* Princely India Re-imagined: A Historical Anthropology of Mysore from 1799 to the present (Aya Ikegame)
* The Guru in South Asia: New Interdisciplinary Perspectives (Jacob Copeman and Aya Ikegame eds.)

This looks like a fascinating event to attend!
