Mark Weston, a writer, researcher and policy advisor, will discuss his new book, ‘The Ringtone and the Drum: Travels in the World’s Poorest Countries’ on Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau and Burkina Faso. The seminar will range across conversations with local people, discussion of the historical currents that have shaped the region, and analysis of how major issues such as climate change and the population boom are affecting West Africans’ lives.
