Centre for Global Media and Communication

The Centre for Global Media and Communication, sitting in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies, welcomes you to engage you in critical debates about the contemporary moment, which is increasingly defined by crises, conflict, divisions, populism, confusion, panic, mistrust in political institutions and, importantly, a breakdown of communication in a digitally connected global world. In this blog, we at CGMC – staff, students and friends – will talk about what we do and how we teach and research. We will provide analysis of some of the most complex challenges in the digital age – political communication, hate speech, data politics, news and media institutions, conflict, displacement, migration, identities, sexualities, difference, equality and human rights – particularly with reference to Asia, Africa and the Middle East. We see this blog as a space for communication, engagement and debate and for showcasing what is unique, challenging and exciting in media and communication at SOAS.
